Gig Reviews
Kel's night of storytelling and poetry was a treat for our congregation. His vivid word pictures brought us into his experiences of some of the best and worst that humanity has to offer, from unexpected hospitality in out-of-the way locations to the horrors of war and extreme poverty. Kel moved with ease between humor, poignancy, and scathing social commentary. Best of all, Kel gave us a thorough education on the delights of the word "bitumen."

"It was a pure joy to listen to Kelvin reading his poetry and telling his stories. We laughed and smiled at Kelvin's adventures. We felt pain and sorrow thinking about orphans and less fortunate. It was thought provoking and it was so natural. Even those who never knew Kelvin were pouring their hearts to him after the event finished. Kel is so approachable and so sincere and he created such a warm atmosphere where everyone could relax and enjoy the poems, stories and great music. Everyone wanted Kel to come back to do another gig. I hope he will come again to London! "

Some evenings quietly slip by, leaving hardly any mark at all. Then, just once in a long while, one sneaks up, bores itself into your subconscious, and simply refuses to fade away. ‘Number 8, Poetry & Story,’ told by Kelvin Fowler, and supported by the excellent ‘Cheeses of Mexico’, just won’t leave you alone! Kel’s edgy verse at times painted merciless images of a real world, that howled in contrast to the warmth and comfort of the book-lined, standing room only living room. At other times it burst out in deep intimate praise of the One who shares and cares for the bruised and broken world Kel so ably relates.

"Having Kelvin come and share his poetry was a superb twist of humour and earnestness. In a typically noisy venue, Kelvin was able to captivate the audience into an attentive silence. His experiences in life are formed in a multitude of witty lines, meeting his audience in heart and mind. It is always nice to meet someone who refreshes the atmosphere around them, and we at Lyspunktet cafe were grateful to host such a man."

Hosting a Gig
One of the things that I enjoy doing is telling stories and reading poetry. I am willing to travel anywhere to perform. It is easier for me and cheaper for you if I can plan a tour, however single gigs are very welcome.
My gigs are very relaxed and informal with approachable story and poetry. If you are interested in hosting a gig, please feel free to contact me. For more information on how I like to gig follow this link. Examples of my poetry can be read from my bio. Cheers Kel |

Gig Reviews
Kel was an absolute delight to host. I invited a few friends and really didn't know what to expect having never been to a poetry gig before. We kinda expected a guy reading his poems for 20 but instead got an interactive, engaging and highly entertaining 2 hours of storytelling and poetry. This guy is gifted and has fascinating stories from his adventures all over the world.
Tim [Host. Portland, USA]
I really enjoyed Kel's poetry in Wageningen, we had a great launch of his new book! We also had a very special time at the prison in Arnhem! Kel really spoke straight to the heart of the guys in prison. I was really blessed to be part of it and very glad that I took the challenge to bring him 'inside'. One of Kel's talents is getting connected with people and seeing them in the context of where they come from, who they are and who they can be. Especially those at the bottom of society.
Ewout [ Host. Wageningen & Arnhem, the Netherlands]
Days after Kelvin's poetry-show people were still sharing how the evening had affected them. The poems, anecdotes and especially life stories touched our hearts deeply. Kel is special and his poetry is a wonderful way to share life's experiences, it really is a gift how Kel conveys this! His poetry enriched us all here in Balingan! Thank you, Kel!!!
Dalia [Host. Balingan, Germany]
"Kelvin's poetry gig at The Old Manse, Portrush had a profound affect on the audience. The poems, the stories and anecdotes both moved us to tears and fueled us with hope. We were surprised at the range of emotions we experienced during the course of the evening. From gut wrenching compassion to genuine joy and laughter, Kel is a master of his art-form. Highly recommended!"
Andy [Host. Portrush, Northern Ireland]
Kelvin came to our little community on our small island, and gave us something we had never seen before. Just a few people came to the church the evening of Kelvin's gig. We sat and listened as Kel took us on a journey through our emotions. We laughed, interacted with questions and comments and so much enjoyed getting to know Kel's story and views on life. As we left that night, it felt like we had journeyed to Lithuania, New Zealand and Canada. We had met a black poodle, a man claiming to be God and orphans running away. We had seen the landscape of 'The Lord of the Rings', and felt the hospitality of a Lithuanian woman. And finally we had joined in as Kel read beautiful worship to our King and our saviour.
Beate [Host. Skjernø, Norway]
We had a great evening with Kelvin in Norwich on his ‘Dusty Finger’ tour of the UK. Kelvin’s stories and poems are accessible to all – those of faith, none or somewhere in between – and are engaging, well delivered and with just the right amount of intelligent humour! The gig seemed to work particularly well in our small café style setting. Kelvin speaks from his experiences and observation and touches the heart with the images and emotions he conveys. From the story of ‘Billy the Bus Driver’ to the plight of refugees, Kelvin took us on a tour of the world and the many people and places he has encountered. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have Kelvin with us. Thanks!
Anna [Host, Norwich, England]
